Maximiliane Leni Armann (geb. 1994, München) is een multimedia kunstenaar gevestigd in Wenen en Hamburg.
In haar werk onderzoekt ze de grens tussen fysiek tastbare en virtuele ruimtes. Daarbij combineert ze media zoals video, geluid, 3D-software, generatieve AI en analoge fotografische technieken om hybride visuele werelden te creëren. Het resultaat zijn assemblages van vluchtige, vage figuren en ruimtes die nooit hebben bestaan en toch vreemd vertrouwd aanvoelen.
In deze tussengebieden vervagen waarneming en realiteit op het gebied van aanwezigheid en authenticiteit. Armann stelt de visuele (re)presentatie van subject en object ter discussie, onderzoekt hun functie en oorsprong, en beweegt zich daarbij voortdurend tussen haptische ‘realiteit’ en de wereld achter het scherm (als een soort drempel). De gereduceerde en minimalistische esthetiek weerspiegelt dit latente moment, deze overgangstoestand.

In her work, she explores the threshold between physically tangible and virtual spaces. In doing so, she combines media such as video, sound, 3D software, generative AI, and analog photographic techniques to create hybrid visual worlds. The result is assemblages of fleeting, vague figures and spaces that never existed and yet seem strangely familiar.
In these interstitial spaces, perception and reality blur in terms of presence and authenticity. Armann questions the visual (re)presentation of subject and object, examines their function and origin, and in doing so constantly moves between haptic “reality” and the world behind the screen (as a threshold). The reduced and minimalist aesthetic reflects this latent moment, this intermediate state.
