Bert Vogels

De Geheugenspiegel

The grey cube as a metaphore for our grey braincells. A computer that remembers. Bert Vogels plays with mind and memory in a filmic composition of bits and bytes. “The projection, the way of projection and the surface of projection is like a kind of trium virat”, says the artist. It has to do with what goes on in our head when we see things. Vogels presents a process of observation, registration and reaction. Computers can not remember things. Still, this is what the artist makes us believe with this poetic, digital installation. The images he earlier recorded and put in a memory center suddenly seem to be remembered and exposed as the musical score of a composition. In this way a new composition arises: The mirror of memories.
