Made in Heaven


Van der Pol describes his work as ‘a garden of synthetic and sensual pleasures, complete with shiny silk, sweet cakes, heads of dolls, soft fake furs and mechanic barking puppies.’ In this type of atmosphere he shows a video installation in white and baby pink colours. This movie, shown on flat screen, is meant as porn for children. We don’t really see porn, but the suggestion of porn. Children will have no idea of what they see, but adults will look at it with disgust and shame. This unpleasant work can be watched from a canopied bed. Van der Pol graduated this year from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam.
